About Us

Who We Are

FreeThink Technologies, Inc., is a privately held corporation founded in 2011 by Dr. Kenneth Waterman and Mark Kastan. FreeThink’s Branford, Connecticut laboratories conduct experimental work to help companies develop formulations, establish analytical methods, and solve complex problems. We have particular expertise in things related to shelf life including rapid determination, mechanistic understanding, and improvements through formulation and packaging. Additional areas of expertise include solubilization using such techniques as solid dispersions, lipophilic systems, and oral and injectable controlled drug delivery. FreeThink licenses to customers its proprietary ASAPprime® stability software, the industry-leading solution for determining shelf life under highly accelerated conditions.

Community Outreach

We at FreeThink regularly do things to help make the world a better place. Some of our recent activities to support our local community include the following:

  • Nature: We worked to clear invasive species from natural preserves managed by the Branford Land Trust; we picked up trash from a state beach
  • Schools: We provided students at the Branford High School with perspectives on science and engineering careers; we started a shadow program with Bay Path College that allows students to spend a day at our laboratories; we have spoken at many local colleges and universities to provide advice on getting jobs in industry
  • Community Service: We planted flowers around the Branford Community Dining Room
  • Family: We donated and wrapped holiday presents for children from struggling families
  • Public Service: We hosted state and local politicians at our laboratories with the hope of helping them better understand the needs of our industry
  • Charity: We donated money to several worthwhile causes including Mental Health America, Waterkeeper® Alliance and Bare Necessities
