FreeThink Technologies and Lhasa Limited co-sponsored the 10th annual Science of Stability (SOS) Conference, held 27–29 April 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. This conference brought together stability scientists from around the world for three days of scientific presentations, rapid-fire sessions, and lively discussions. The main emphasis was on pharmaceuticals, with talks broadly focused on what happens (chemical and physical changes over storage) and how fast do these changes occur (kinetics, modeling).
Among the many exciting talks was a contribution from Patrick Kelleher, Associate Director of Physical Sciences at FreeThink, who presented “Non-linear kinetics in stability studies.” This presentation explored how deviations from traditional linearity impact shelf-life assignments.
Helen Williams Memorial Award
A highlight of the closing session was the presentation of the Helen Williams Memorial Award, given each year to the SOS talk that best embodies a spirit of curiosity, rigor, and enthusiasm in stability science. This year’s award went to Eduardo de la Toba (Pfizer) for his presentation on hydrogen peroxide stress testing. It was a well-deserved recognition of work that combines methodological depth with real practical impact.

Our thanks to every speaker and attendee who made Glasgow such a success!
We look forward to seeing you at SOS 2027 which takes place 17–19 May 2027, at the Science History Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Program and registration details are coming soon.
